5 tools to help lift the fog 🫶🏼
When my late husband died, the shock was extreme and the widow brain and fog was so profound.
I found my solace in exercise, I could feel a few hours of clarity after each workout, and now we know the science that backs that feeling. I wasn’t just imagining the peace that came after each training session.
Yet, there are more tools you can use. Feel free to add more in the comments to help others 👇❤️
Here were my top 5 tools for helping the brain fog that comes from grief.
1 – Move your body.
We know that exercise helps many systems in the body perform better including clarity of mind and reduction in depression. Just go for a walk. It’s a great place to start.
2 – Get outside.
Fresh air, sunshine and grounding help center the mind and bring an overall sense of well being to the spirit.
3 – Deep breathing.
Grief puts your body in your sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight). By practicing even a few minutes of deep breathing you can return to parasympathetic (rest and digest). Don’t underestimate this simple tool.
4 – Meditation.
Even three minutes of meditation can make a tremendous impact on your mental health and clarity. Use a guided meditation from an app like Headspace for inspiration.
5 – Make a small list.
Just list the next 3 things you need to do. Don’t make it big, just small to-do items like self-care can make you feel accomplished and help lift the fog.
You aren’t crazy.
The fog is real and it will lift but be an active participant in your healing.
Sending love your way,
Michelle ✨

I would add art journaling to this list. It has saved my sanity for many years. Especially since I became a widow 10 years ago. To play around with paint, ink, glue etc is so relaxing. You can work through your grief, write things down, cover them up with paint if you want. I could not be with out it!
Absolutely! Art is another fantastic channel. So glad you found something that works well for you. Wishing you all the best in your healing journey. Michelle
