I Choose to See the Miracles

I’m on my way home after a fun adventure with our adventure travelers to Sicily, Italy.

We hiked on Mt. Etna, we helped prune olive trees, went wine tasting, cycled through old villages and vineyards and tasted the worlds best chocolate in Modica.

Last night, with just a few ladies remaining we had dinner in a farm house, three generations old and had a fabulous meal prepared by Silvina and Angelo.

When we first walked into the lovely living room, we were overcome with the fabulous sights and smells, but as I glanced around the room, I noticed a small biplane on the cabinet.

Tears flooded to my eyes.

There, standing in this distant farmhouse, was a sign from the beyond. My late husband Mitch, died in a biplane, just like the replica on the cabinet. No doubt he was, as he often does, saying hi.

I choose to see miracles in this lifetime. I choose to see hellos from the people we’ve lost and feel the love that gift of observance offers.

The randomness of how we came to eat at their home is part of this story. It all just fell into place and one of my favorite moments from our week.

I can tell you that we all laughed till we cried as we tried to converse in broken English and Italian with this beautiful couple. We felt loved by sharing a table of incredible food prepared with so much heart, homemade wine and connection beyond unnecessary words.

I hope you travel in this lifetime.

I hope you meet people raised differently than you but who love just the same.

I hope you taste new food, see new sites and laugh with someone who doesn’t speak your language.

I also hope you see the signs that are mostly definitely there, should you take the time to look.
